    mainstream music: a corporate commodity in which the form of music is created for capital, thus following a specific formula of tonic, dominant, minor, subdominant chord progression in order to reach the lowest common denominator of audiences.

    Therefore, mainstream music does not equal genuine music.

    Even though I do like Alicia Keys and Aguilera.
