How to Jazz Up Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town?

For our Christmas concert I am doing a jazzed up version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town, but I have no idea how to do it! We have the original version with sheet music, but my director would like me to make it jazzy. I am tap dancing in the middle and have some back up singers, but mainly it needs to be really cool. Ideas?

Here is Dave Brubeck’s A Christmas Book, in it is a jazzed up version of that song:

This song is already quite jazzy…when I sing it in my head i can just feel the bounce it gives off. Recommend doing notes off beat or with a swing at least. Kinda hard to tell ya how to do it without showing you music.

Listen to the Andrews Sisters/Bing Crosby version, or the Dave Brubeck version. Merry Christmas!
