Heh, I agree, 32% is pretty high. That’s like 1 out of 3 people. Mannes has a 15% acceptance rate the last I checked.

    Frankly, it depends …
Frankly, it depends on what you’re into, and how willing you are to take to what you learn. I think we can all agree that Berklee has the most hype, but I personally believe that they have a large number of excellent guitar teachers, and a huge scene for guitarists, which is why I’m there. I don’t know your instrument, but man figure out what music you like, and figure out who can teach it. If they work at Berklee, go there and study with them!

This is good. Rare for Berklee. A few kids from each class are really great. The rest of Berklee is pretty lame. I checked it out.

    yeah, i mean i love …
yeah, i mean i love jazz, but im a little more interested in funk/fusion and stuff…i have also looked at the “new school” for jazz and purchase college (close to where i live and 5th best jazz program in the country)…i dunno it does seem like all these places have ONLY jazz…which is actually exactly why ive been checking out berklee lately. ive just heard their standards are falling…

yes you have a very …
yes you have a very good chance. I was a solid c student. If a 69 was failing.. always got a 70. Its a very good school, however since Texas has tons of big schools UNT takes a lot of people.

I did get a good SAT grade by the way.

Most kids who come to UNT all come out sounding the exact same. Thats why I am trying to get to berklee. Here the only thing you do is Jazz. ONLY jazz.

    ive heard awesome …
ive heard awesome things about UNT…what are their standards as far as grades? im a sophomore and on average a B- student. so if it demands straight A’s im probably out immediately. At the risk of sounding y, id say im, at least in comparison to an average guitarist, pretty good, and i have a lot of background in theory, its just my grades are nothing special at all…would u say i have much of a chance?

I went up there to audition about a year ago…

I now attend UNT ( if you know anything about music schools this is supposedly the best) and I have never herd a jazz trio as good as the one from students at berklee.

    is berklee as good …
is berklee as good as its made out to be? its just that ive heard they teach a lot of lower level stuff because half the kids who go aren’t that serious…ive also heard that people who go there for jazz end up owned by the competition in nyc…but others tell me its a great school, so i dont know what to think. im positive i want to study music, im just not sure where i should go…could i have some input? thanks =)

Don’t frown my friend. If you really want to, just do it, take the loan. It will be the time of your life, just dedicate yourself to it and procrastinate. Good luck.
